Thank you very much!

Edmonton’s favourite documentary film festival is back for its 26th year. Global Visions has returned to the METRO CINEMA and the LIBRARY THEATRE in addition to a new downtown venue, the old PARAMOUNT THEATRE on Jasper Avenue. Inspired by Gandhi's words, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world," this year's documentaries will explore opportunities for individuals here and around the world to embark upon actions that can make a difference.

THURSDAY NIGHT OPENING GALA at the Paramount Theatre featuring the film WAR/DANCE. Set in Northern Uganda, a country ravaged by more than two decades of civil war, WAR/DANCE tells the story of three children whose families have been torn apart and their homes destroyed. When they are invited to compete in an annual music and dance festival, their historic journey to their nation's capitol is also an opportunity to regain a part of their childhood and to taste victory for the first time in their lives. Besides being an award winning documentary, WAR/DANCE will also be the first opportunity for Edmonton audiences to view a High Definition film in a public exhibition format. Shot, edited, and projected in 100% true 1080p HD, this film will change the way you think about video projection.Click here to see more details about this film.

YOUTH MEDIA ARTS DAY Friday at Metro Cinema. In addition to a feature length doc there will also be new films from the kids of Future Visions and the Aboriginal Youth Media Initiative. A whole day of docs by youth, for youth! Later that evening there will be an all ages ROCK THE DOC party at the Avenue Skate Park featuring short documentaries, local bands and free skateboarding with admission.
