Description

Few can forget the harrowing pictures that emerged in 2004 from the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, shocking the world and making the prison synonymous with torture.

Featuring startlingly candid interviews with both the Iraqi victims and the guards directly involved in torture at the prison, Ghosts Of Abu Ghraib delves beyond White House claims of "a few bad apples" to raise serious questions about what happened, why it happened and whether it was merely an isolated incident, as the government continues to maintain.

The interviews with soldiers who took part in and observed the torture at Abu Ghraib challenges what we think we know about what took place, and the film suggests that, far from being an unauthorized, isolated event by rank-and-file soldiers, the physical and psychological torture employed at the prison was an inevitable outgrowth of military and government policies that were implemented in a climate of fear and chaos, inadequate training and insufficient resources.
