Description

Featuring the incredibly powerful and beautiful words of Arundhati Roy, the author of The God of Small Things and one of the world's most incisive political commentators, We is fast-paced documentary almost in the style of a continuous music video.

Images of humanity in the world we live in today and a perfectly crafted selection of music sets the pace and serves as a wonderful backdrop for the words of Roy's famous and poetic "Come September" speech, covering the world politics of power, war, corporations, deception and exploitation.

"To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget."

We is a completely free documentary, created and released anonymously on the internet, where others discovered it and worked to make it more widely accessible. We is a beautiful and challenging film which becomes even more powerful when experienced collectively on the big screen. It is also a film which, by nature of its content and the unique way in which it has been created and distributed, raises complex issues of ownership and intellectual property in the digital millennium.

For these reasons, we have decided to screen We at the festival free of charge.
