Oct 25, 20102010 Global Visions Film Festival Line-Up ONLINE NOW

The wait is over...the full slate of films for the 2010 Global Visions Film Festival is ONLINE NOW! Presenting 28 thought-provoking and engaging documentaries, we're continuing our tradition as one of Edmonton's marquee festivals. Coupled with our guest filmmakers, panel discussions, Global Marketplace and After Parties, this will be a festival to remember.
In addition to our film line-up, the festival will be presenting several Free Events. The Global Marketplace return Saturday, November 13th at 12:00 pm at the Art Gallery of Alberta (Manning Hall) and we're hosting Diversity of Tactics, an informal and audience participatory free panel discussion exploring Canadian citizenship and democracy, reflecting upon the G8/G20 Summit protests.
There will also be after-parties on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings along with a Meet the Filmmakers Brunch on Saturday at 9:30 am which give you the opportunity to meet with Alberta's film community and our guest filmmakers.

Tickets for the 2010 Global Visions Film Festival will be available starting Monday, October 25th at the following locations:

Festival Superpass - $75
Opening Night Gala (8:00 pm, November 11th) - $15
Festival Six-Pack - $50
Once again we will be offering Festival Superpasses which gives you access to all screenings (including the Opening Night Gala); Opening Night Gala passes for our screening at 8:00 pm, November 11th including an after-screening reception; Festival Six-Packs which gives you six admissions that can be redeemed in any combination (either six films for yourself, or take five friends out for the evening).
Tickets for individual screenings will also be available at the door for $10 ($8 student, seniors and Global Visions Festival Society Members). A limited number of Opening Night Gala passes will be available at the door, but it's best to buy in advance to ensure entrance.

Directed by Ondi Timoner, Cool It is an environmental documentary that looks at author Bjorn Lomborg who wrote the book The Skeptical Environmentalist and came under fire from the scientific community for his published views on the topic of Global Warming. Lomborg does not dispute the issue of Global Warming, but instead says that the issue has been blown out of proportion. Yes, Global Warming is a problem, but there are much larger issues at stake that should be dealt with first. Special guests and discussion to follow the screening.
Doc Soup is the acclaimed documentary film series presented by the Global Visions Film Festival in partnership with Hot Docs. The series will run from October 2010 to March 2011 featuring six films with special guests and discussions following each screening.

Global Visions Film Festival (GVFF) connects Edmonton to its social justice community and promotes documentary film, music and art to encourage reflection and responsible social action.
