Global Visions' Youth Day

Global Visions is pleased and proud to once again partner with FAVA, the Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta, in presenting Youth Day at this year’s Global Visions Film Festival.  The event runs from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, November 6th, in the  historic Paramount Theatre.

Youth Day begins (12:30-2:15 p.m.) with “Future Visions” a program of short, personal films produced by a group of inner city youths with the assistance of FAVA’s Tim Folkmann.  If last year’s program is any indication, these kids’ films promise to be raw, poignant and often very funny.

The second half of the program (2:30-4:00 p.m.) features a world-premiere screening of The Story Telling Class (59 minutes), a new documentary from veteran Winnipeg filmmaker John Paskievich.  Paskievich’s film follows one young teacher’s remarkable efforts to bridge the solitudes between students from very different parts of the world (from Afghanistan to Africa to Western Canada) at a culturally-diverse downtown Winnipeg high school through an after-school storytelling class.  A brief Q&A with the filmmakers will follow the film.

Admission to Youth Day is $6 for Students & $12 for Adults
